Thanks to the moderator who moved my post. I had not scrolled down to find this.
So, I purchased a 02 TB 4x4 ext in June to use as a spare vehicle or daily driver.
Mileage was 221,000. Area shop had taken it in cause the tranny needed replaced. The owner gave it to the shop. At the test drive the engine was rough and noisy. Vehicle other wise, great shape. They put in a used tranny with 75,000 miles.
Shortly after the cam sensor showed cam chain needed replaced.
I choose to replace the motor with one with 90,000 miles. The shop put it in without charge. I paid for the engine. Since than the fan clutch, a/c motor(pump), starter, water pump all needed replaced. The shop replaced all at cost and no labor. That is within about 3,000 miles. I think I have about 4,000 into it at this point. If it will not break down in a major way for a couple years I will be happy. I will drive it around 5,000 miles a year.
