2003 Suburban with 230k miles. Had to pull the instrument cluster. After putting it back and turning the key to position 2, the only warning lights that would light are check engine and the brake light (parking brake engaged). The normal light diagnostics prior to starting no longer occurs. Start engine and then all lights temporarily do diagnostics then go out (except brake since parking brake engaged). Oil pressure then pegs high. Reseated the connector. No change.
Saw something on line for resetting the cluster using the key, turning the head lamps on and off while pressing the reset knob on the upper right of the cluster. This did make the light diagnostics work one time when the key was placed in position 2 but the oil pressure continued to be pegged high. Putting the key back to position 2 a second time after the reset did not resolve the light issue.
I loaned my quality code reader and only had a blue driver code reader which did not access hardly any information so I can’t provide detailed code or system performance until tomorrow.
any ideas or have I finally suffered the curse of the instrument panel failure?

A Few Ideas come to mind:

(1) A Failing Ignition Module (or one that was Mis-Aligned during an IGN Module Swap)

(2) After 22 Years of Pounding The Pavement... Even a Reliable '03 Suburban may have suffered Micro-Cracks along the edges of the IPC Logic Board at the Pin-Boss Soldered Lines where the Under-Dash ICP (Instrument Panel Cluster) Plugs In. Even the mere jostling often necessary to separate the IPC from its Harness Connector is just enough to bend, fracture and cause these Hard To Find Soldering Breaks.

(3) There may also have been suspicious (specious) repairs done to the Cluster over the years by Prior Owners that have finally come home to roost via "Home Spun Gauge Fixes". Please check out THESE Videos generated by the redoubtable Eric "O" from up there Avoca, NY at his Shop called "South Main Auto" while Diagnosing an IPC focused Parasitic Draw on a 2003 Silverado.

Observe the Text --- HIGHLIGHTED IN RED... in Post #3 of THIS Thread Linked below and Watch the Second Video and Listen to Eric "O"s Phone Conversation with an IPC Repair Expert about the underlying causes pf this bizarre condition ...rendering the IPC Faulty:

(4) When you can finally gain access to a Good Bi-Directional Capable Scan Tool... Investigate any Class II Network UXXXX (U1000) style codes ...as THIS situation also has those ear marks as well...since the IPC uses the Class II Network for comms with the PCM and BCM.

(5) Undiscovered Rodent Activities like Gnawed Wires and Connectors with signs of Nesting and Feces Droppings and Urine and Greasy Dirt Deposits bear investigation that most shops might overlook when they can simply make money charging a Diagnostic Fee and then throwing a few parts at the unresolved problem.

(6) Beware the Dangers these conditions threaten under the hood from exposure to the Deadly HANTA Virus. Use an N-95 Mask, Wrap-Around Eye Protection and M11 Nitrile Gloves during Clean-Up and during any Harness Repairs. HANTA Kills nearly 40% of its infected victims from the inhalation or mouth ingestion of Aerosol-ized Dust Particles breathed in during such exposures. Use NO Compressed or Canned Air...only Wet Wipes soaked in 5% Water - Bleach Solution for Clean-Up of the Work Areas.
