the ignition switch went bad in my 02 tb, and attempted to replace it myself after reading posts on this site how to do it but failed. So I took it to a local mechanic and now the radio stays on all the time. I have a Pioneer radio I bought from crutchfield using all the harnesses supplied.Could the switch be install improperly or is it possible the guy jumped something out. ?

If the radio worked correctly before the ignition switch swap, it was probably installed one tooth off.

Did you use a GMOS adapter by any chance? I have had two fail exactly like that but it also would not give any sound to my Bose amp.

My guess is he shorted the radio somehow when installing the switch. It may have caused damage to the radio logic.. Thats why I tell everone to remove the battery before working on anything electrical. But this is my worst case scenario.

Try disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes and then hold down the power button on the radio for about 30 seconds. See what that does.

When you reconnect the battery hold down the power button until the radio resets.

I know i agreed with Wooluf about having a tooth off but now that i think about it that doesnt seem probable. when I changed my ignition switch the darn thing wouldn't work at all if its just even one tooth off. Its very precise where it needs to be at when installed.
