Thought it may be nice to have place to show off the fruits of efforts whether it be deer, rabbit, fish, whatever. I know some of the other members have some kills this year. I am hoping to get a whitetail or three this weekend!

I've got 2 so far in gun season... Heading out for a third this weekend (plus the meat from a 4th that a hunter on the family property is giving me)...

Small 8-pt buck (would have been if 2 weren't broken off, anyway), 1.5 years old, maybe 120# dressed... Usually save the heart the liver for the dogs... Saved the liver for the dogs, but the heart was literally 2 pieces... He didn't go far...

The doe that I got last Sunday morning was maybe 90# dressed, yearling... She dropped where she stood.

I hunt with a CVA Wolf .50 muzzle loader, with 245gr PowerBelts, over 150gr (3 x 50gr pellets) of 777, and a 777 209 primer...

Nice Mike :2thumbsup:

Our deer season ended last weekend, I only got out twice, saw nooooooothing :frown:

Did get a few birds, bird/rabbit season runs from Oct 1st to Feb 28th, so I'll get out a few more times :wootwoot:

That how it has been for me. Have not seen a deer yet, but they are all over the trail cam

I hear so much on how good deer taste and stuff!!

Maybe they are using the cam to torment you.

Will you deliver?

mmmm, you are making me hungry again

I don't partake in the hunting scene however I love fishing. Mostly large mouth, my boat is small enough that I can throw it through the woods and fish some decent ponds. I really want to get into ice fishing this year but time and getting equipment will be the issue of course

how have you lived in Michigan and never had venison? Time to pull your man card lol

:rotfl: No idea man! I think that is something I should have quite soon on my dinner plate then

How its processed and cooked makes a huge difference. Easy to over cook venison.

I went opening day down here in tx but only saw some young does no bucks at all. Won't be able I go hunting again till the 10th. Hopefully I can see something or at least get a doe or hog for the meat.

Not mine, but off our land.

That's a pretty big dog. :raspberry:

For what its worth, do a google search for Rocky Mountain Elk, I grew up in Colorado and that is what I am used to seeing!

Nice man, I hope you get yours this weekend like you want.

Yeah I would say with in 5 miles. I hunt on the land that is owned by the company I work for. They own 26,000 acres of crop and timber.

2 years ago was my best season ever! I shot 13 deer in 4 days!

Yes they were that year. They were all in the back of my truck going to a meat shop to donate to HUSH: Help Us Stop Hunger.
We eat the does and give away the bucks or make sausage out of them.

That was certainly a good looking bunch of deer there. Certainly much larger then the overgrown dogs that I see in Indiana and Michigan. I helped skin a doe last night that resulted in about 20lbs of meat. Tiny little thing, but it was the guys first kill so he was still proud of it.

My buddy just had his lil buck field dress 178.

you guys in the midwest are fortunate on the deer front.
I worked at a sporting goods store for years, here in SE NC a trophy is about 180lbs 8pt and would score under 130.
You might get a few a year pushing 150 but you don't see very many.

My largest was about 150lb with about 3 inch bases but they were broke off about 2 inches from his skull like he had maybe been hit by a car.
A big doe here is 100lb with 8 inch ears :-)

Once I get some money saved for a bumper/skids I'll have to drive up there and get it and come hunting with some of you guys.

here is mine from last year its an 8point with an 19inch spread and scored an 110

envoyjoe, you being from PA reminds me, I was up in PA one time near King of Prussia and I drove by some park and there were some does out there that looked a whole lot like ponies. I bet they weight close to 200lb each. There were people walking the trails likely 75 yards from the deer and the deer kept feeding........ Not in my neighborhood!
