How much oil to put in my 4.2 vortex.

How much oil do I put in my 2006 Trailblazer 4.2 i6.. I have read that the 4200 takes 7 quarts. Although when i read the dipstick after putting in 6 quarts it says full.. does it actually take 6 or 7 quarts.. any help would be much appreciated.. thanks.

I just put in 6 and 1/2 and it's full.

Calls for 7 as you read. I always do 7 and it's always a hair over full.

I've always used 7 quarts and not a problem in nearly 200k miles. As Mounce says it shows just a hair over full.

That stupid stick on my old 2003 TB was so hard to read I just did 7 qts and I never had an issue.

Manual says 7 so go with that as long as you are doing the filter too .
