Filler hose from neck to tank is leaking and want to replace it with just regular hose until I get the new piece.

Does anyone know what size hose (inner diameter) I need to fit over the stem that goes INTO the tank?

According to the Dorman Product Data for the 2007 Trailblazer Filler Neck, the End One and End Two Outside Diameter Measurements for the Steel Pipe are made at 1 1/8th Inches:

Gates makes 1 1/4" Gasoline Fuel Line available on Amazon:

This is probably a really stupid question, but I've never bought this stuff before, so... do you ask for the size based on the outer diameter or the inside diameter?

The Only Really Stupid Questions... Are The Ones that No One EVER Asks... FIRST... :>)

The deciding factor is usually settled by the fact that the Outside Diameter of the Filler Neck Steel Pipe (at 1 1/8 Inches) must be VERY Close to that of the Outside Diameter of the Gas Tank Inlet. With less than 1/8th of an Inch difference in the Inside Diameter of the Fuel Line (at 1 1/4 Inches)... Using the proper Stainless Steel Screw Clamps should work quite nicely.

When it comes to the Fuel Lines, though... it is the Inside Diameter Listing that becomes the critical size. Pre-Fitting the 1 1/4 Inch Rubber Fuel Line in between the end of the Steel Filler Pipe and the nose of the Fuel Tank Inlet Pipe will ensure that it will work on both ends.

EDIT:

PS Consider that since the Original Fuel Filler Pipe is made of Black Painted Mild Steel...IT can be the source of Fuel Leaking too... so replacing THAT entire Unit should come to mind during this repair.

I went to the auto parts store and got a couple feet of 1 1/4 hose but on the inlet end it just wouldn't clamp tight enough to be secure from leaks. Looked good on the tank-in side though. I ended up just ordering the real part from Amazon... so I wait...

The GMT360/370 was designed and intended to have a hose with a check-valve in that location.

Somebody decided that leaving out the check-valve (at least in some applications) was "good enough" and saved money.

There's no sense in replacing that hose with one that does not have the check valve. The check valve makes fuel fills easier and less aggravating.

Note the "notch" cut into the hose at the fuel tank end (near the clamp)

The hose is "stepped" or "tapered" so the fuel tank end is larger ID than the fill-pipe end.

And the whole reason we know the vehicle was originally intended to have the check-valve is that the hose is notched (even the hoses that don't have the check valve) and the gas tank has a matching protrusion, so that the hose can only be installed one way--such that the check valve (if used) is in the proper position to work right.

Something is up with these filler neck hoses ... The one that was on my truck was OEM. There was no valve it it.

Looking at Schurkey' photos and youtube videos of older trucks, the length looks far longer than what I have to replace and far longer than the 07 specific that I just ordered.

In fact, while looking around for the best price there must have been some change from around 2005 because the listings all specify that the piece I purchased fits 2005 to 2009. I wasn't even able to find it in the Rockauto listings for pre 2005 trucks...

Did it previously come as part of the complete cap to tank neck?

There must have been something changed. So many parts are listed for 02-09 but it specifically said 05-09 for the part fitment. Can you find any places to buy for before 05? I've turned up nothing...
