I'll use this thread as my intro. My name is Ed and this a project I picked up a few months back. Its a 1988 GMC S-15 pickup with a 2.5l 4 banger. Its bagged and body dropped and lays the body on the ground. Its sort of a weekend driveway project. Im getting a lot of help from the good dude that directed me here Mayo.

Just gonna post a pict or two for now.

Welcome!. My buddy had a similar body dropped truck. It had a v8 conversion as well.

The camper is going back on as soon as the fuel and air are relocated. I should be able to send the payment for the new alum cell today. Just waiting for a price. Getting new air pumps, tank and lines installed too. Already have that gear, just need the fuel cell mounted first.

Im also a basshead. This is for cruising and competing in shows. After the fuel and air is back together I still need to add my battery bank. Will be 6-8 Northstar nsb-90's. Then on top of it all will be a big subwoofer enclosure with 10 Ascendant Audio Chaos subs. The opening will passthru the back window. The truck will be 8k watts on the subs and 800 watts for the mids and highs. Gonna be fun.

I figured it was just a matter of time. There is a lot going on getting this all up and running. The site is looking good.

Time to add more picts too. For the most part we have just been tearing it down and doing repairs where necessary. Also changed a few things around while it was torn apart.

So far this is what has been done.

Changed steering column to a tilt wheel setup
Added OEM power windows. Relocating switches to the console.
Replaced the old door popper solenoids with new Autoloc units
In the process of installing Viper 5901 alarm
2 runs of 2/0 power cable from the alt to rear battery bank
New starter cable from the battery bank to the starter
New bench seat from a Nissan pickup. Shaved all the hardware from the seats to lower the seat height.

Were in the process of rewiring some of the stuff in the rear. Fuel pump and sending unit. I added another Viair air compressor so running new wire for both and the pressure switch. Re running all the wiring to the switches and valves. Will also run some extra wires for any future additions.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

A little update. I ordered the new fuel cell from Metalworx for the truck today. All aluminum with a new sending unit and cap. Once I swap the tanks out I can remove the old air pump and air tank. Then install the new 8 gal tank and Viair 480's. Going to run a couple of new airlines while its up on jack stands. That seems like the build theme. Out with the old, in with the new.

Then I need to make the new bitchin relay fuse holder thingy.

Im waitin for the pict of you and Mayo squeezed in the cab

Got a hand from the Wire Master and his apprentice Mr Cherry today. Got the door Poppers working on the new alarm and found out one of the old relays was fried that triggered the drivers door. Feels good being able to get in and out of the truck with ease now.

More dismantling to do tomorrow if its nice out again. Want to pull all the old air valves out and the wiring harness. Going to incorporate it in the one im making to run all the accessories in the rear.

Todays mission was a success. And I couldn't have done it without Cherrys help. Well, maybe I could have, but it would have taken a call to DEI or a trip to lens crafters lol.

Got a few picts today from Metal Worx. They are burning me up a custom alum fuel cell for the back of the mini. Said its all done and just waiting on the shipper to pick it up :wootwoot:

Guess I ought to order the new fuel pump now.

These are picts from their shop.

Found a couple of picts on the camera from when I was tearing it down. The door panels Im keeping as is for now with the exception of the speaker pods I'll be adding to them.

Wish this weather would break. I seriously want to work on this instead of looking at it covered in ice.

Had the day off so I did a little work on the truck. Was actually nice outside today for a cloudy overcast January day.

Working on the gauge cluster for a little change of pace. Tried something different but wound up not really liking the technique. I will leave it alone and do what I planned but wont do it this way again.

I also had a chat With Robbie at DC Power and Engineering today. I have one bad ass alt getting built for the mini. Complete custom setup that you wont see on another truck anywhere.

Heres a few picts of todays progress. The one withe the gauges is just me figuring out what I want to stick where. They wont wind up sitting like that at all.

1. how much did you bring up the floor?

2. how big is the guy in the drivers seat?

3. Enjoy it while your young cause once you start getting older your body is not going to like the truck anymore
