HID Bulb Lifespan?

Didn't have time to google this much, and the few hits I looked at were useless. I have an HID kit from VVME(would prefer to switch to DDMT, but that another story). The drivers side bulb died on me after about 2.5 years of use. One bulb never has liked to fire on the first attempt, but I forgot which one(can verify later). Is it normal for them to die after roughly 2.5 years? They are 6000K

all depends, is the ballast slim or regular and how often are you having your lights on and are you running DRL's on them. But that 2.5 years seems okay not the best time but not bad either. Bulbs are cheap for those kits
