I've got a nasty grinding coming from my driver side front. Sounds like metal on metal. I replaced the outer tie rods about a year ago. I'm wonder if inner are bad now. I did jack it up when I had a few minutes yesterday and if I put my hands and 3 & 9, it seems to wiggle quite a bit. Afraid to even pull the tire off before having an idea what's going on. Thoughts?

I suppose you're talking about grinding related the rotation of the wheel, not when just turning the steering wheel while stationary. I'd suspect the wheel hub bearing or possibly the brakes dragging. The last time I had a metal-on-metal sound from the front of the truck, it was from the brake shield rubbing the rotor. It took seconds to bend the shield back in place after removing the tire.

Does the grinding sound change as you brake or change steering direction?

The brake dust shield possibly? Very common issue.
