I just joined from the "Other Site". Now I'm saying Goodbye to my Envoy of eight years.
While working in Roanoke I was hit on the ring road of a Mall. She told the police "I was on the phone and wasn't paying attention". Who in their right mind would tell police that?

She wasn't going fast even going fast enough to make he Air bags deploy. My truck was towed to a State Farm (her Insurance) repair shop. State Farm gave me a rental to get home and use until my truck was fixed.

Two weeks later I drove to Roanoke to get it. Drove it 275 miles back to Virginia Beach. It drove great. Repair cost was almost $6k

I noticed some issues with the alignment of the bumper and fender. So I called State Farm. I took it to a Collision Center here in Chesapeake. I'll make a long and sad story short. Bottom line is the frame is bent and "Can't" be straightened. The frame would need to be replaced. The truck is a total loss and can be sold for parts only. I will get almost $12,000 and most of my after market parts thou. I will have a few parts to sell. I had a Borla catback I wish I could pull but I don't have the oem exhaust to put back on or the time to find one.
ps. I'm still driving the truck until I settle with State Farm:confused:.

Sorry to hear of the issue and loss of the truck . main thing is no one was hurt. Please keep us all posted. And in not trying to sound wierd, let please let me know what you place to sell off the truck if it still comes to that.

That's brutal...

Glad thing you weren't hurt in the initial crash tho...

I think this speaks to the competence of the original shop however... I mean they must've known that the Voy was a "write-off" as they were fixing it, and yet they still allowed you to drive it home?? I can only imagine what would've happened had you gotten into another accident before you had the Voy checked for the second time... :weird:

IMO that first shop put you at risk and should be held accountable for that...

Once you figure out what you're doing with the Voy, you should list the parts you're gonna sell - I'm pretty sure that there will be a list of people waiting for your "goodies"...

Good luck with everything - especially the insurance companies!

When the first shop found out that State Farm had totaled it they offered to pick it up take it back to Roanoke, fix it and return it. State Farm refused. Apparently the frame is only slightly bent but in an are that can't be reliably straightened (liability issue)and would need to be replaced. The state will issue a "Non-repairable" certificate instead of a title and the truck can only be sold for parts. I was told by a couple of body shops specializing in frame that if it were a "Uni-body" it would have most likely been repairable. It only had 71k on it. As soon as I get it finalized I'll post the parts I end up with in the FS forum.

How the heck was such a relatively light impact able to damage the frame so it can't be fixed  I don't get it. OK, even saying it is tweaked slightly how can that light impact make the vehicle unsafe? I just don't get it.

Good to know your still kickin around to. I hate to go. I must have spent at least 2 weeks trying to figure a way I could keep the Envoy. I even had my Insurance co. check it and estimate it. I also had a Body shop that specializes in frame repair check it also. They all say That the frame is slightly bent and the cost would exceed the trucks value. So I'll just take the $12,000 and find something else.

The frame specialist I talked to said if she would have hit a foot forward or back the frame probably would have been OK. She hit it dead center of the hub and I guess the energy not only bent the upper and lower suspension but was also absorbed by the frame. I don't think the truck is unsafe to drive as it is now but it is a liability issue for the insurance company. I even thought about telling them to forget it and I would keep it as it is now. But even if I did that it could be a liability issue for me if I were in another accident and a Carfax would show the accident and frame damage. So I'm gonna take the money and what parts I can and start over with something else. Preferably better on gas.

Still, in one sense $12000 for a 9 year old vehicle isn't too bad I guess... I'll bet State Farm hates that other shop now as they just spent $18000 on it however!

I'd get another one personally.

That guy is f***ing crazy to think he will get a visa from someone on there. Sidenote if the owner of the Facebook group needs spam enforcement help, just hit me up. I have been moderators for many forums & groups in the past so it wouldn't be my first rodeo.

Sorry about the loss man.. That was a pretty green. When I bought my Voy, it had to either be silver or that green..

State Farm is getting a bit more tight on repairs. What it comes down to for them is the limits of liability they are willing to take. From what I have been told by a State Farm rep just recently, frame damage is suppose to reduce the "impact crumple zone". I don't buy it, but that's what the adjuster told me that was doing an estimate on my roof.

When you can, I would be very interested in that front pushbar and mounts. Please let me know..
