We're trying to get a group buy going for a reproduction of the hitch cover. At this stage we need to evaluate the demand. We need a minimum of 6 people to get this made. A person who have made some reproduction tow hitch covers in the past, are willing to do so for our GMC's.

I am the first customer, anyone else?

Pricing will be in the range of $80 for a ready-for-paint version
to about $120 for a carbon fiber version.

Mounting tabs will be upgraded to a square pipe, instead of the flimsy clips the originals had.

Please show your interest in this thread, if it pans out we might have these fairly quickly.
Questions?

To see what kind of quality we can expect, here is a hitch cover made for a chevrolet. This is the carbon fiber version. Please show your interest.

If you get them made for a Chevrolet, I will buy one. As you can see, <=== I have no use for a GMC hitch cover.

Those interested in the trailblazer cover as shown in carbon fiber (or ready to paint), can email the guy directly here, Rwkam@hotmail.com

Let us try keep this thread on topic, this is for the GMC hitch cover, GM Part number 12498324 reproduction.

I'm interested. I even posted in the Wanted sections of the Classifieds both here and the OS, so I am definitely willing to commit to one.

I searched a lot for these before just after buying my truck in July and I can't recall...does that GM part number have any application other than the Envoys? (pretty sure it won't fit the TB's but unsure of the other 360 platforms). Reason I ask is I am very seriously contemplating the front fascia extension GM P/N 1249867x (x=2, 3, 4 or 5), but those have the Envoy emblem in the center...just thinking out loud at this point but I might like to have the Hitch cover match that. Would that be possible?

I may even consider committing to more than 1 to make the group buy happen, for instance 1 carbon fiber, 1 ready to paint and 1 with the Envoy emblem.

No matter what though count me in for one at the very least.

AFAIC, great first post...I wanted one of these badly!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I saw this part number hitch cover listed on a SAAB parts site, but I guess they assumed you'd plaster over the GMC lettering...? Wheather it fits other gmt360's or not, the lettering will still be wrong. That said, it's not entirely certain that we have to/can go with the lettering, so thats still a little in the air. Awaiting feedback on that from the maker of these things still.

I could possibly go with more than 1 aswell to get this going, but since this listing have only been up since late last night, I'd still wait and see a little what interest we can get.

i'd take one

Unfortunatly this reproduction never happened. Not enough interest. I tried to get people from several sites to be part of it, but there was a lot of negativity, and suspicions that it was a scam. Granted, I did not have any previous membership time on those sites, but then again, if one search, one really don't need to post questions that often.

Personally I ended up finding one on ebay just 2 weeks ago or so, and paid the measly sum of $24.95 + shipping, brand new. But I had to wait 9 months to find one.

I'd reccomend you do that, make ebay auto-email you if one ever shows up.

Sadly there's never going to be one in carbon fiber turn up at random on ebay - oh well :-(

If you want maybe we can put resources together to fund initial production, and sell those to all who were somewhat interested but fearful of scams. PM me with any info you have from the maker.

Thanks WarGawd, hopefully we could get something. I seen pic of ShortBus's TB with the OEM one, and it is sick looking

Hope you GMC guys can find one you're looking for.

Took me a LONG time to find one for the TB, and I bought it used.

The info for the guy making them is in this thread already, his email is Rwkam@hotmail.com .

If you want to take over this project, please feel free to do so. However, it should be noted that not only did we have to get people interested in buying them, but we also had to source an original part to make a mold out of. At the time, there was a guy possibly willing to do so, but I don't know if he's interested anymore. His was already prepped for paint, so since he wasnt keeping it "as-is" it didnt matter whatever residue the mold making would give it.

If your really interested, I guess I could source all the contact info for all parties, and then you could check if it's still doable. But you lost 1 person in the group buy, -me.

It's a shame really, it seems guys want these, but it seems to be close to impossible to find those people when you need them. Maybe your better at networking than I am, I tried my best, posted on all sites I could find thats into our trucks, even on the TB SS site, since we could make it without text aswell. Those guys spend alot on their trucks, but zero interest.

I am interested, but not sure that the standard Envoy one will work for the Envoy XUV. Can anyone confirm?
