I just watched a most depressing webcast.
GM Will Die Soon. They Deserve It. (Engineer Explains Why)
It seems that GM sold itself to SAIC for a pittance sum without realizing it, or maybe they did. Regardless, in 2027 it will be time to renew their relationship with SAIC. If they renew, SAIC will control the whole company, and if they don't GM will be left with only internal combustion engine technology and striped of all international sales and distribution. The company will surly die or the GM brand will only be a badge on a China car. I cannot believe what I just watched. So depressing it is.

GM can't even rely on their ICE vehicles as those have been nosediving in quality and the warranty claims will shit can the company. They've been cheapening everything. Take the 10 speed transmission for example. They got the design from ZF but they cheaped out on it and is now blowing up in their faces. It can be fixed but they won't spend the money because they know GM will be gone in a couple of years.

As far as EVs are concerned, the market is saturated on this continent. Apart from within big urban centres, they are not viable because of the vast distances and lack of charging infrastructure so the Chinese may not reap the benefits of this EV technology. ICE or plug-in hybrids are likely the only way to go here. So China's gamble to take over the NA EV market may not pay off.

Deja vu, isn't it ? sooner or later they all fall. Just took GM a little longer to be the next American Motors, Hudson, Studebaker, Packard.......

If they survived and shrink back to NA market, maybe it's a good time for GM to restart and revive.
