U gotta take the paper that comes with the letter and have the dealer fill out the sheet then u get a check in the mail within 30 days. I also had my envoy done which I don't have anymore. So if ur on file I am sure but dont quote me you will be reimbursed.

So, does this mean that people who haven't had this fixed yet can now do it for free?

I received the same recall in the mail about 10 months ago for my 07 LT. GM only paid 50% of the cost though. The letter also mentioned that if I was over 120,000 miles, all parts and labor was full price and out of my pocket.

It's stating that if you had this repair done that gm is gonna give u $$ back. Yes the 50% u paid. This isnt the same letter as 10 mos ago.

my 03 doesn't seem to suffer from this issue? wonder why?

Because the older style fuel sensors were a better design than the newer junk ones. 06 and up was what the tsb was for. Consider urself lucky!

I remember having this fix done for my 2006 Chevy trailblazer which ended up getting repoed because my ex didn't make the payments on it. anyways I remember paying 50/50 back in 2008 because it was out of the full warranty, but I think I paid 200 to 250 for the repair. wonder if I would get reimbursed.

I STILL haven't gotten mine fixed yet

I haven't found anything about you guys, but someone on saabworld posted a bulletin which states:

Effective immediately, the 50% customer co-pay policy has been discontinued and GM will pay 100% of the total cost for this repair.

That post and pdf can be found here:

SAAB 9-7X Updated Fuel Level Sensor Special Coverage 10054E/15921E

If anyone has the bulletin number for our trucks please post it here or pm me.

I wonder if mine is not a problem or was repaired before I bought it. I was just at the dealer last Friday getting the recall work done on the master switch.

If only that were so. On my 03, I have to use the trip meter to have any idea how much fuel I have left.

So far GM is saying that they will reimburse me for the other 50% of my last claim at 55,000miles. I just had to replace the fuel lever sender a second time and they will not reimburse for a second failure(70,000miles)

I had my fuel level sensor replaced in 2011 on the 1/2 off deal so when I ran across this thread I stopped by my dealer (GMC) and inquired about the reimbursement. He looked it up, gave me a copy of the letter which I took to another dealer (Chev)that did the replacement for me and left it with the service manager along with work order receipt that I had. That was Tuesday, I got a check in the mail today (Thursday) for the full amount that I paid. Happy, Happy ,Happy  Dave

Can someone scan a pdf copy of the letter or let me know the tsb for an envoy? I need to get this done but have not received anything from gm. Thanks.

Well that sucks. My 05 has 126,000 and hasn't had a functioning gauge for 30,000 miles. So I am screwed because they waited long enough that I am over 120k.

You can still see if they'll do half like they were before. Never hurts to ask.

Time to bring in the 07! I had to pay to have the sender on my 06 fixed and that was long before I had found out there was an issue. Glad to hear ppl are getting their money back! :wootwoot:

I have an 06 Envoy Denali that the gas gauge doesn't work. I haven't gotten any letter in the mail. But does this mean I can take it into the dealership to get the fuel gauge fixed at no charge?

Should be able to. As long as it doesnt have over 120k miles on it.

Better late than never, I suppose...:wootwoot:

I never got the letter but took mine to the dealership (Nucar's Lewes Automall) anyway. They fixed the fuel gauge problem for me at no charge. Also had them do the driver door control module recall work while it was there. If it weren't for this site, I would have never known I could get the fuel gauge fixed for free. Thanks everyone...this place is awesome!

FWIW- just tell the service advisor the fuel gauge issue is covered under GMC Special Policy #10054... That's what my paperwork says.

:iagree:

That's the number on mine, too.

The only difference is, my dealership calls it "Special Coverage 10054".

Yeah it is correctly called a Special Coverage by GMC, however, my dealership was referring to it as a Special Policy, and that's also what was printed on my $0 invoice.

BEWARE !!!!!!!!!!
TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT WAS N/C HA!
THEY CALL ME UP AND SAY OH THE LINES AND NIPPLES ON THE PUMP ARE RUSTED AND THEY CAN'T JUST PUT BACK TOGETHER OR IT WILL LEAK. WTF THEY SHOULD OF CALLED BEFORE THEY TOOK IT APART. SO AFTER HAGGLING WITH THE GM AT THE DEALER SHIP I HAD TO PAY $275.00 FOR TWO LINES AND A PUMP. SO N/C TURNED INTO $275.00 BUCKS !
BRIGHT SIDE I HAVE NEW LINES AND A NEW PUMP. MY BUTT STILL HURTS :hissyfit:
