Hi Everyone,
my truck is a 2004 gmc envoy xl 4.2l

So the other day my filler neck called it quits and rotted through spilling gas all over when I was filling her up.

So I replaced the filler neck with this Dorman 1635875221913.png
and the neck to tank tube with this Gm Genuine hose

Also while I was down there I replaced the vent solenoid with this ACDeclo Part

Now here is the part that makes no damn sense to me. My stock OE gm gas cap does not fit whatso ever on the new filler neck, my dads 2007 trailblazer gas cap does not either. I went to auto zone and they found a cap that loosely fits but it does not snap or click.

Does anyone have any Idea where to look for a gas cap that would work? Has anyone have experience with this Dorman fill neck?
Should I call Dorman?

Thank you in advance,

Matt

I remember reading here that the aftermarket replacement filler necks don't use the stock gas cap or were defective.

If it doesn't use the original gas cap, no mention of which one anywhere.

Well, just a update. I ended up getting another one that wasnt sealing.

I ended up going to the yard and getting the upper hose part (where the cap connects to it) and using that with the new rubber hose/ lower metal part. I tested the yard upper hose chunk and it held a vacuum so my leak has been fixed.

Now I just need to fix the vent solonoid box, I need to recconect the vent tube to it, its half on sideways and throwing a code.

I use a Stant gas cap on my '04 and the wife's '06 TB's. It's the only one I found that isn't all loosey-goosey on the filler neck. It says SAE PA66 on the side of it. These caps can fit a variety of makes and models.
Rock Auto has them as part #10836.
