I've enjoyed watching through these the last few days, and thought others might be interested as well. Word of warning - each segment is between 15-40min or so long, so pace yourself accordingly!

This should automatically play the segments in series, but even if it doesn't, there's a link to the next one contained within the end of each.

The engine in these vids is an LM7 (pickup-based, iron block, different intake) - but it does have the cathedral port heads like our LM4 / LH6 / LS2s, and it's a Gen-III engine.

(Note: the LH6 ('05-'09 TB/Envoy) and LS2 (TBSS) are Gen-IV engines; an easy way to differentiate is the cam timing sensor visible on the front timing cover.)

One of the segments shows the machining processes that are used - my inner geek really enjoyed seeing that one. Another one later on shows different water pump choices and what was done to relocate components to use the WP of his choice.

After the first 10 installments, they start going into wiring harness mods, as it's part of a swap project into a Jeep - but up to that point, it's engine-focused.

The other nice thing is that his sons assist from time to time - nice to see the knowledge transfer to the next generation, and them taking an interest in it.

Finally, while this was interesting to watch, he documented the costs at the end to be around $600 for the engine - and about $5K for the parts / machining - so it's NOT a cost-effective 'budget build', given that turnkey crate engines can be had for less. But for the person who dreams of building his own someday, worth watching, IMO.
