Front driveshaft and halfshaft removal?

Front diff is failing and I want to go 6L90E 2WD. Can't I just remove the three shafts until I'm ready to swap? Leaving the diff in place until I've sourced the parts?

A little more info might help. You've posted in the SS section. Is that what you're driving?
IIRC, you also have to disable the transfer case.
More will jump in, I'm sure.

Yes its an SS 06' AWD. Just thinking about pulling the front driveshaft and both halfshafts. Might go ahead and switch out the front spindles while I'm pulling the front shafts.
