As the title says, I need the GM part numbers of the seals for the front diff. And, before I get reamed to search, I've searched the 3 boards and although there is a lot of help between them for all the work I need to do, the part numbers are absent. Well, except for:
DS axle shaft seal (this is the outboard left side seal) GM# 1925-7296 which supercedes # 1247-1618.
I need the pinion seal # and more importantly I need the differential INBOARD seal (the one next to the oil pan for the intermediate shaft).
If anyone has "confirmed" optional sources for these seals that are correct, please add your experience and part numbers/mfgs as well.
Roadie, GMPartsshop doesn't list the numbers and no where does their search/diagram show an application for the inboard seal. I will gladly order from them once i have valid numbers, they seem to be the best deal out there. My "local" gm dealer just quoted me $125 for them and wouldn't give me the part numbers or individual prices, in the GM restructure my town lost its' Chevy AND GMC/Buick/Caddy/Pont dealerships, so at least a 1-1 1/2 hr highway drive to a gm dealer.
And I swear, I'm going to post all the info gathered on this into one hopefully cohesive post so folks don't have to search and read for hours on end. Search function is there for a reason, but at this point with all the info "out" there doesn't it just make sense to have all the info in one post related to one component/system. JM2C. Maybe unfairly, but I keep comparing auto forums to the lowly Escort/Tracer/Protege forums I have belonged to for ten years and let me tell you, they've got some of the best forum layouts and stickys I've ever experienced.

Thanks for any help

Comes right up for me at the backup parts diagram source nalleygmc.com. Might as well make this the definitive thread.

Roadie, thanks for that line drawing and part numbers. I was following a link you previously used for gmpartsshop.com, great source but without a part number just using the drop down menu was largely incomplete. Of note, in that list provided, there is no noticeable differentiation between the description of either the 4wd and Awd seals for the disconnect.
Using the part numbers/prices listed I was able to negotiate with a *cough* local dealer 80 miles away, the quote they gave me included the awd AND 4wd disconnect seals although I specifically stated the 3 seals of the differential with detailed description of each seals' location, he said he's including all of them and I'll have to look at the drawing to decide which ones I need when I got there. Sheesh, even dealer parts guys suck, I was never anywhere close to that bad on my worse day as a parts counterman. Anyway, one of the two guys there yesterday (a Saturday) was one of their better guys apparently, he worked with with getting the other guys pulled parts sorted out and then when presented with the Nalley prices he came down on the prices. He said every dealer makes there own pricing on parts, and these were the absolute best prices he could do, funny thing is when he reworked the quote the list price and the net (charged) price were entered as the same prices, another reason why folks call them stealerships. The parts price difference was still about $15 after tax, but ordering online would've also had a processing fee and shipping charge and probably wouldn't get the parts until late the coming week, so I got the parts right then. If I wasn't going to be passing this dealer on the way back from picking up my daughter from Diabetes Summer Camp, I would've ordered online and waited on the parts. Also, got their last bottle of Auto Trak II, it seems to be an item that is not stocked well out here, next trip up I'll get the other one for the transfer case fluid change.
So, what I got, all GM part numbers and prices I paid (less tax):
12471614 $17.95 Pinion seal
19257296 $15.95 DS CV axle seal (outboard)
12471617 $15.97 Intermediate shaft seal (inboard)
88900402 $10.34 Auto-Trak II transfer case fluid (1 qt)
Whew!

In this link http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=63915&page=3 it is mentioned who the original vendor of driveline parts to GM is and here are the links to American Axle and Manufacturing parts for our platform, looks like the 4wd disconnect is shared by other platforms and some other parts as well, but unlike that poster stated it looks like here in the US that you have to order through a local dealer and they all appear to be heavy truck/equipment dealers, I'm not sure how the pricing/availability/ordering is because I haven't checked.

OK, got a used front diff out of a '02 Olds Bravada, mileage and maintenance unknown. Drained the fluid and looked pretty good with no obvious metal grit or shrapnel. No excessive play or noticeable leaks. I did ruin the inboard seal while impatiently trying to get the diff out over the intermediate shaft, could not get that shaft out since the shaft support/"disconnect" wouldn't budge. I haven't decided just yet how I'm going to proceed with this unit, I at least have to replace the inboard seal, but as stated above I have all the seals and was thinking to replace them all as cheap(er) insurance. However, I need to investigate how much work it would be to just open the case to make sure everything looks good and if so could I just put the halves back together or would that mean basically having to readjust load. If that is the case I'll either not open it up and just replace the seals or depending on cost of the rebuild parts I might order them and rebuild so I know it's going to last me, hopefully.
I began the removal of my trashed diff and I gotta say this is the single worst job I've ever done on a vehicle in 30+ years of wrenching. There are a few basic ways of removing it, I'll post the links later,
but you have the GM shop manual way of removing the steering rack and oil pan for a bottom/rearward removal,
the somehow get the engine up and over to the PS and out straight down method,
the take it apart in 3 pieces and good luck getting the next one back together in that way method,
and the one I chose take apart darn near everything else and pull it up the top of the DS of the engine bay.
I also did it this way on the Bravada but a lot if it was parted out already so much of the job was already done (knuckles half apart, rad/condensor/support/water pump removed) and while dealing with a truck on the way to the JY you're not caring so much about any incidental damage or keeping track of bolts etc along the way. But, doing it on you're own truck with no gantry crane, just a jack, isn't the best situation.
It took me, all told, about 8 hours over two sessions of working on it to get it out. There are some other tips/steps to the job I'll post when I have more time that would make it an easier job but adds time.
I'll post a better progress report with links and steps/tips when I have more time and probably when the job is done.
Bill.

Somewhere in all the other threads, there is a complete removal of the front diff.
of a TB with pictures. I don't know a easy way to find it. They did it from underneath
the truck.

Edit: did you check the ratio?
