I took off my front bumper cover today and snapped a bunch of pictures with the metal bumper on and off. I thought I'd throw out the link here in case anyone else can use these images for reference for their own mods. The linked page contains thumbnails. Clicking an image will take you to an 800x600 image, and from there you can expand the image to full size (3264x2448 pixels).

So was the grill broke before or during removal

It was broken before. I wiped out a small tree last Winter during a snowstorm, which is what prompted building the new steel bumper. I needed some reference pictures for planning out the next steps of my bumper build, and snapped these photos today. The last two pictures on that page also show the WAAG guard mounts after I've taken time to straighten them back out somewhat. Despite uprooting the tree and pulling the guard several inches off to the side, the overall damage to the truck was remarkably minimal.
