Hello everyone. My muffler pipe has succumb to rust so i bought a new walker direct bolt on unit plus i purchased a tailpipe from AP exhaust without the resonator figured i could eliminate that with the swap. Problem is the tailpipe opening is way bigger than the muffler assy. So, should i just install the muffler assy and splice it in (hopefully) easily or try to shop around and find adapters to fit these pipes together? Any thoughts cause right now my exhaust is hitting my coil spring.

Maybe by not buying all the parts from the same supplier, they might use different sizes. Since the OEM pipes were an oddball 2.75", aftermarket manufacturers might go different ways. AP might have gone with 3" while Walker went with 2.5".

Reducer and a clamp or two should do it, I would think. Something like this, in the appropriate size:

Given that it's at / near the end of the line (post-muffler), I'd think (?) it wouldn't cause any problems with backpressure, etc.

Does that pipe without resonator go all the way out the back? That would be interesting as I have never seen a replacement like that.

No unfortunately. However the rear hanger will not interfere with sliding an extension right over it. It has more room than cutting the resonator off the old one.
