07 Envoy 5.3, 222k miles. Towing boat home other day and starting to hear loud noise, thought it was a wheel bearing but its coming from the engine. No codes and oil looked normal on the stick. I pulled the serp belt and started it thinking (hoping) it was a bad bearing but the noise actually was louder with no belt. Intensity varies but it seems loudest when first starting. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ended up pulling the AC belt as well and that made noise go away. Looks like it's the clutch bearing as sound would go away when ac was on.

Did you check the AC belt tensioner pulley when you had the belt off?

No but it definitely needs to be replaced and could be the source, its the original and wobble is easily visible. Gonna leave the belt off until I have time to drop fan and fix.
