Hey everyone,

Am buying a performance kit from PCMofNC and it has the Efan conversion kit. I decided to try and source one locally. 73 Miles away is a 2000 LS1 Camaro Fan assembly for $65, or locally about 5 Miles away there is a 1999 3.8L Firebird Dual Fan Assembly for $30. $35 with a warranty. I could drive 73 miles but would rather not if I don't have to.

My question I guess is are they the same? I've looked all over and have seen people basically shrug and say they think it's the same and looks the same but aren't sure. It's hard finding CFM or flow numbers for these fans so I can't tell. Here is the info to forums i've found so far.

http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1055408-fbody-radiator.html (not efans but rads)
http://www.tacreationsusa.com/electric_fan_assemblies.htm
http://www.tacreationsusa.com/3_4_3_8_v6_to_ls1.htm - THIS is the most telling and states that 1999-2002 *SHOULD* not require a fan swap if doing a 3.8L to 5.7L swap for a trans am

http://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/1696761-v6-cooling-fans-same-ls1.html - Another member trying to find the same info as me 3 years ago, lol.

Did you look up part numbers on RockAuto? And they have pics too.

Could be something with the connector (as mentioned in the other forums) or possibly mounting locations. Another possibility that is unseen is lower power fan motors. If the kit says to use LS1 fans, I'd stick to that or possibly call PCMofNC. They might know.

Just called and ordered the parts from PCMofNC, they said yes, 98-02 Camaro & Firebird are the same Fan V6 or V8. So that should save some folks a bit of money, since LS1 anything seems to add to double the cost of the part.

Please do post your results and how your temps go. I used to have efans in the TB and my results were less than stellar.

Yes 98+ fbody radiator and fans are the same V6 or V8 doesn't matter (and a whole bunch of other stuff too). Earlier 4th gen fbody (93-97) did use different fans.

Efans installed and PCM patched tonight. I won't know anything for sure on Temps for a while, last week it hit 92 here in Fort Wayne....maybe it will get close again? As of tonight when replaying the HP Tuners log it didn't go above 202° and I was trying to stress it. Mac A/CEI and plenty of spirited driving as well as sitting in parking lot for 15 minutes we'll see during the day. I have a 300 mile Trip later today to pick up a lot of parts at a salvage yard near Detroit so we'll see.

I also added the 4" Intake later and fitted everything. Thinking I might have jacked up the MAF since I'very gotten a P0171 Code after doing the install. Or it could be adaptives, not 100% sure, whether or not there's any HP increase with the intake in conjunction with the Fan & T-stat I definitely love the sound of the new intake! :biggrin:o

Here's a few pics taken at 2am. I'll get better ones tomorrow.

There's something wrong with your pics and avatar. None are showing.
