Door clicks

When I open and close the driver's side door I hear clicks. It happens when the door is almost fully open. It does not come from the hinges, rather the curved black arm that slides into the door through a rubber boot. (I took the arm loose [two 10mm bolts] from the frame and the clicking went away.) This little arm goes into the door when you close the door, and I don't see a way to shoot some lube onto that arm to stop the clicking. It's not at the end that I can see, which is a pivot point. Any ideas?

get some silicone paste lube and brush it on the door check ( the black arm you described ) top bottom and sides of it then open n close the door a few times for it to coat evenly thsi will eliminate the nose for a while until you can source a replacement door check

You are a life saver! I have had this problem on my driver's door since like 2004 and decided just to live with it. I never even thought of the silicone paste (did WD-40 a few times but it never lasted). This is a good fix!

I've wasted about half a can of WD-40 on mine, too. Can't wait for the weekend to try the silly cone.
