Just about 99.99% sure that one of my lifters has collapsed in my 2017 GMC sierra 1500 (5.3). Really would like to do the AFM/ DOD delete kit but I unfortunately live in the state of California. Does anyone know of a kit that I can use that is carb compliant? I know the Jasper kit would work but I’m not looking to throw 6k at a new motor if I can help it. Any insight would be helpful!

Welcome to the Nation. We did have a discussion about a CARB delete legal kit however it was for the 6.0/6.2L.

However they don't seem to have a kit for your year 5.3. This CARB Approval document confirms this. Maybe contact Livernois to see if they could make one and get it approved.

Other option is to repair your current engine with legal AFM parts and use a disabler like the Range AFM Disabler, which can be removed during certification and is undetectable.

Welcome to the forum from Oregon.

Having to deal with AFM engines is the reason I stick to GMT800 trucks.

Hey thanks for the welcomes and the reply! That’s what I figured lol. Feel bad going through all this work just to put the same crap components in. Thanks California
