hey all,

Just did some modifycation to my old sub box and figured I'd take some pics (sorry, shitty cell pics lol) along the way to share with you. I started with 2 small boxes for 6X9's and one huge box for 2 12inch subs. I cut out 2 openings in the top of the sub box and mounted the 6X9 boxes inside. After installing the 2 6X9's I wired them to a 2 channel Rockford Fosgate 600w Punch amp which i mounted to the side of the sub box. My next step was to add some foam inside the sub box (Not sure why but I've allways done this. If its better without, please let me know). Then I mounted up the 2 subs and wired them to a mono Rockford Fosgate 900w Punch amp (forgot to take a pic but it looks the same as the 600, just says 900 instead) which i mounted to the other side of the sub box. After that I delt with the mess of wiring that I had. I tried to clean it up as much as possible but its still a little rough looking but whatever! Just before i headed up to the apt, I pressed on one sub and noticed that the 6X9 moved a little so I'm heading back down now after a little smoke to seal the 6X9 boxes with expanding foam. Hopefully that'll cure the air pressure cross leaking. What do you all think??

Whats the benefit of the high density foam over low density poly-fill.

At least you caught the air leak before you launched the 6x9s:thumbsup:

I don't know how well the foam will seal up to the carpeted part of the 6x9 box, you might have to trim a little off where it meets the box and then foam it in.

to be honest, no idea lol. I had some Cerwin Vegas in there when it was in the 4runner. We cut some foam to size to cover the bunk in our camper and there was some left over so I tried it in the box and the bass difference was amazing. might be even better with poly-fill, but I don't know.

yeah bro, those 6X9's woulda never seen it coming lol! I'm hoping not to have too much trouble sealing it up but I have a bad feeling that its not gonna be so easy. I had meant to saturate the small boxes face carpet with either wood glue or caulking before mounting it inside the sub box but my dad was there jumping the gun (thats what he does lol). And before i knew it he had one of the boxes mounted. Before I could say anything, boom, he was gone like a fart in the breeze! Youre probably right tho, I may have to strip back the carpet to make it work propper.

Spray foam didnt work! I spent all morning taking it all apart and saturating the 6X9 boxes' carpet with glue and re-assembling everything again. worked like a charm tho, no more air leak.
