Default Recirc Setting

I normally use AC in the recirculate mode. However the default setting on startup is outside air intake.
So I always have to change the setting every time I start up. The tech2 can change the default setting, but I don't have one.

Is there a way to do this through Torque pro or some other app?

I don't know if you have the manual or auto system, but here's what the manual says:

On hot days, open the windows long enough to let hot
inside air escape. This reduces the time it takes for your
vehicle to cool down. Then keep your windows closed
for the air conditioner to work its best.

If your vehicle has the manual system, for quick
cool-down on very hot days, use the airflow from the
panel outlets, press recirculation and air conditioning
with the temperature control in the blue area. If this max
air conditioning setting is used for long periods of time,
the air in your vehicle may become too cold and dry.
For normal cooling on hot days, use air conditioning
without recirculation with the temperature control in the
blue area.

If your vehicle has the automatic system, press the
AUTO button and the system will cool and dehumidify
the air inside the vehicle. Also while in this mode, the
system will maximize its performance by using
recirculation as necessary.

On cool, but sunny days, with the manual system or
through manual operation of the automatic system,
use bi-level to deliver warm air to the floor and cooler
air to the instrument panel outlets. To warm or cool
the air delivered, turn the temperature control to the
desired setting.

I know it doesn't answer your question but it may help with how you run the AC.

I've never seen the auto system operate the recirc mode without me pushing the button.
I know the tech2 can set a parameter in the bcm to leave it in whatever was the last setting. But I'm not going to get a tech2 just for that...

When the auto system does it, it doesn't put the indicator on. Ever notice on a hot day, when you first start the truck, it blows really hard? It's using recirc to cool the inside as fast as possible.

Not on my 02. I can tell the difference when I push the button and hear the actuator moving to the recirc setting.

That's the way my 02 works when I first start it on a hot day.

I tend to put it on outside air on a hot day when first started as the air inside is much hotter than outside so the system doesn't have to work as hard. Once the temp inside is lowered, then put it on recirc.

My 04 will go into Recirc Automatically, its when I really notice a temp drop.
