so tonight is the night to replace the stock clamp with a 4" SS hose clamp. after fighting with the stock one, it finally let loose, then I heard the vacuum sound and POP, the boot came off. ~I've read not to let this happen, but I didn't touch it~

I've now been fighting with it for 25 minutes, and can't seem to pull the bottom out while pushing the top on. Hind-sight already talking to me....

Anyone done this with a shaft still on the truck? Love to hear some pointers, constructive ones.

The other side will be getting the 4" clamp over the stock one! ~I'm pretty sure~

Thanks in advance!

When the cv boot slips off where the old clamp use to be, its easiest to jack up the lower control arm so that the cv is almost level and then fight the boot back on. That's what I did anyways.

I've had SS Hose clamps on my P Side front for 4 years with no issues "Knock on Wood"
I did have to make sure it was inside the lip of the housing so it wouldn't pop off.

I was planning on replacing them with the proper straps, but why?
They look great and show no rust or wear. Of course, I'm in Florida too.

In the off road crowd we generally just put the boot back on and use two hose clamps to clamp the boot back on. So far to my knowledge no one has reported any ill effects. I have my pass side done this way and haven't noticed any difference. However I dont know if this will work the same for some of the guys who reach high speeds with there TB. I know mine does fine at 80mph.

I've been on the highway plenty in excess of 80mph...no issues so far
