Cutting the CV boot band

I can't envision how to cut the band and not hurt the boot.

Read many posts trying to find the method, but it's not in the posts I've read, I guess (also searched the offroad site).

Insight will be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried finding these? Or in a pinch careful use of side cutters.

I would try cutting it at the raised clasp/pinch point.

Edit: I was trying to perform this while under the truck... not going to happen. Raise and remove wheel to allow access to rotate.

I think one time I used a sharp screw driver and strike the connection point, wedged and pried it apart. Worked well, no cutting but can't reuse.
