Got it installed last night.. Vibration is gone... I could dance a jig... If I could dance..

2 new problems popped up thou.

Before I balanced the drive shaft, I replaced the wheel bearings and seals... And one of the seals is now leaking.

And

Now that the noise and vibration from the drive shaft is gone, I now noticed how many other rattles there are.

Sometimes you just cant win!

The problem, locally, with getting a junkyard drive shaft, is that they use fork lifts to put the vehicles in the yards. I have yet to find a XL/XUV that the driveshaft wasnt dented, or completely bent.

I managed to borrow a truck from my work on Saturday, and I will have it all week. I pulled the driveshaft out on Saturday, and dropped it off at the shop this morning. Will see what they find out.

My hunch is this will not solve the issue. I do believe its the pumpkin side bearings.

But hears to hoping it is the drive shaft.

Edit to add, I somehow missed the update, congrats...but left my post anyway.

Does the steering wheel happen to shake when this vibration occurs?

If not, swap wheels front to back then see if wheel shakes.

I was fighting a vibration on the Yukon, after the driveline messed up both shafts.

I went with 2 new shafts from The Driveshaft Store, much improved ride.

Also road force balanced the tires, another tremendous help.

Sometimes even a balanced wheel/tire can cause a vibration.

Something to ponder....You can balance a spinning cube, but won't roll smooth.

Steering wheel was always smooth as glass. And the sound you could hear inside the truck, and outside on jack stands... You would swear it was a wheel bearing.. Which is way I replaced them.

Live and learn!
