I have a lime swap pcm and finally came across a tech 2 to do the CASE relearn. I followed May03LT'S video on how to do it without wiping the tune and I have come across an issue. I done have the crankshaft variant option to complete the relearn. Here's the screens that I follow.

1) Diagnostics
2) 2008 (year)
3) LD truck, MPV, Incomplete
4) Chevrolet truck
5) S (product line)
6) Trailblazer (product series)
7) F0: Powertrain
8) S 4.2 L6 LL8
9) 4 Speed automatic
10) F0: Engine Control Module
11) F2: Special Functions
Now here's the options I have

Output control
Engine speed/throttle
Fuel system
Misfire graphic
Service bay tests

Nowhere is the crankshaft variant. I did go through the options with the 2003 Trailblazer and that is there. Is there a different way to do this for my truck or do I follow the 2003 option?

Could it be under service Bay tests? I know it's there but if you go in via a different year you will get an error. I don't remember but there may be a different menu all together. Special functions or something?

This is a White Paper that discusses all of the implications for "Off-Set Variant" that mentions not only Toyota Engines being concerned with the implications for frictional differences...But their Test Bed Choice was to use a Single Cylinder directly taken from the GM 4.2L Engines as well.... perhaps the data is mentioned somewhere herein: (Try plugging in 20 Degrees):

That's weird. Try an older model year and see if it will work I guess. It can't hurt I don't think.

The case relearn process is different on the 2007 and newer since they went with a different PCM in them.

What is the process? I have looked and looked and don't see anything different about the 2008 model like mine. I need help quick because I have to give this guy his scanner back so any help is much appreciated!

I don't have a TechII to test with. Mine is a 2006. You may have to do more research on your 2009.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with later models. I know for my 2006 5.3, it was there under special functions.

What software version do you have on the card? The last one was in 2013 and if you bought your Tech 2 recently, it should have that last update, which would include '09. However, the Tis2000 software on the laptop is even more outdated to 2008. As long as you didn't do an update to the Tech2 using Tis2000, you should be OK.

The software version is 33.002

That looks right, good up to 2013. I dunno what to tell you. Might be somewhere else in the menus?
