I just bought an 02 tb and the dome lights don't turn off without using the kill switch. Also the radio turns off with the engine. Fuses are good. Hatch locks plate lights good wiper works. I don't have a door open msg tho. I didn't see any broken wires in the hatch. The only urged thing is the passenger window switch isn't working I don't think that's the cause tho. Idk where do I go from here?

There are switches in the door latch assemblies that tell the BCM (Body Control Module) if a door is open. Rear doors have wiring that goes straight to the BCM under the rear seat, driver's side. Front doors connect the switch to the DDM or PDM (door control modules) and then they communicate on the vehicle's serial data bus to tell the BCM that a front door is ajar.

So your observation of a window switch not working on the passenger door may be related. If the wiring in the hinge area of the passenger door is damaged/flexed inside the rubber boot where it's hard to inspect, that could explain both problems.

How are you with a meter and electrical troubleshooting?

I've done it before I have a multimeter and know how to use it. I bought the car right before Xmas and the dealer said the switch was broke so I just assumed that the switch went bad because they never said otherwise and they still haven't replaced the switch for me like they said they were going to. But all that aside. I should start at that door and do what. I couldn't figure out how to unhook that bundle of wires in the door under the hinge

pretty strange but last night I accidentally fixed my dome light and RAP issue. how it fixed was this, i removed the headlight switch to take it apart to attempt to change bulbs with leds, epic failure as I could not get the solder out of the holes, pretty sure i screwed up somehow but anyway as soon as i unplugged the switch the dome lights came on. when i closed the door to go inside i watched as the dome lights shut themselves off rather quickly, not the 10 mins i was expecting. later i came back opened the door and the lights came on  i plugged the headlight switch back in shut the door and went to start the car lights went off… boom fixed! as for the RAP I don't remember if it was because of the dome light or because i replaced the broken passenger side window switch. Luckily I didn't take it somewhere to try to have them fix it and cost me an arm and a leg just for them to say idk. So Im happy, altho i did ruin the lights in my headlight switch :sadcry: but ill take it

@illy Good to hear that you fixed your problem, I too had a somewhat similar issue with my '07 TB awhile back, turns out that the master switch on the driver's side died on me which appear to be causing the problem. Thankfully, I heard about the recall concerning the driver's side door possibly becoming a fire hazard & took it to the local dealership. They replaced my master switch as well as performed the sealant process on the door & that gave me my RAP back. I will definitely be checking to see if there are any more recalls on '07 TBs.

Sounds like the dome light override button on the headlight switch was pressed. Unplugging the switch effectively turned off the override, and your dome lights came back on.

I would say the RAP issue was due to the faulty passenger door module. A faulty door module making the BCM think the door is open, would be a good reason to push the dome light override button so the dome lights weren't on consistently while driving, or for 10 minutes after shut down. I think whoever sold you the truck, knew about the issue and didn't want to pay to fix it, so they took the easy way out

I tried the button many times in attempts to fix the issue but it never worked it would only stay on all the time or off all the time. Couldn't make it work

Only issue I'm still having is that the car will not let me go into programming mode to program the remotes
