I recently replaced all my lights to blue and red but had to get a new cluster because on two spots I couldn’t Sauter lights to it. Anyway one the new one from and envoy those two windows the lights are so dim you can’t see them during the day and I don’t like the fact I know have 180k more miles than I did with my old one so I was just curious if I could switch them out, it looks like it can be done but I’m not sure if the mileage is held in the number strip or a nearby chip08A14448-C0F6-4D3B-B29E-A33714274D32.jpeg

It's in the rom chip. Iirc, someone tried swapping the chips and it didn't work.

There is a reprogrammer you can buy from China.

What I wanted to do is cut the old ones right at the top so the posts are there and take the ones from my other cluster and Sauter them on to the posts.
It sucks cause the ones in the cluster are so dim it looks black during the day not to mention now it shows I have and extra 160k then I really do smh

From what I'm reading, you have two separate issues.

The dim part could be from a bad voltage regulator that feeds that part of the display. See the videos from jeffsEscort.

Reflashing the ROM to correct the mileage would be your best bet, as you'll probably cook it swapping it.

:iagree: See if there's a cluster/speedo repair shop in your area. I swapped in a DIC cluster, to replace my basic one when the display died, I found a speedometer repair shop, and it took him maybe 20 minutes to reprogram the new to me cluster to match my mileage from the old one.

How do I reflash the ROM?

Just remembered. They're called Digiprog available on Aliexpress (better price there but slow shipping) and (oddly enough) on Amazon.

I'm probably going to get one as I want to replace the cluster in the TB to add a DIC. I picked one up at the U-Pull but has close to 300k km compared to the original 137k. At $112CAD from Aliexpress, it's not a bad deal.

My Sierra's cluster is in good shape -- except for the PRNDL display (very, very dim). Would like to fix it / have it fixed / replace.

Let us know how you like the Digiprog. Although I will probably break out the soldering iron and see if I can't rectify it myself (I've seen websites on how to do it, although I'm not what you would call 'handy' with a soldering tool, as it applies to very small objects)

Of course, when I get around to installing my head unit w/ backup cam, I'll prolly just look at the screen changing to the cam display to know that I'm in 'R', and not touch the cluster...

I believe I still have the cluster from when you parted out the other TB, plus 2 others...if they can be of any help to you you're welcome to them. I drive down Mitch Owens regularly these days....lemme know

And this will slow me to put it back to original miles or even less miles if I wanted to 😉 j/k?
