Bose stereo CD changer compatibility

Hi there. My new to me Envoy has the discs stuck in the changer problem. I have tried the various suggestions to remove them with no luck. I have seen it is pòssible to swap a changer system from a donor unit. My question is does the donor also have to be a Bose unit?

Iirc the changer is the same. I could be wrong though.

They are the same! I have successfully swapped out the CD changer beteeen the two. The defective one had a CD stuck in it, which I freed but it still doesn't work. Oh well, the intended one now does. And I fixed up the face a bit too with some black paint.

The Bose units have a seperate amp. I believe the non-Bose units have their own amp. For this reason I'm told they are not interchangeable, and that it's best to find a donor that matches exactly. But I have the same question - what years would possibly work...

True but the internal CD changer is likely the same.

For this experience they were the same. I was able to successfully and easily swap the changers between the two radios. Worked out great!!
