Just happened. Was cruising at 70mph and boooom. Worst sound ever heard. So while waiting for a tow I figured I would start looking for a replacement.
2007 Yukon 4wd with 3:73 G80. Not sure I want a direct replacement or something in the upgrade whelm.
What say you guys?
Any help would be great!
I went to the Siteringpiniom.com and I am torn between the yukon dura grip Yukon Dura Grip positraction for GM 8.5" & 8.6" with 30 spline axles - YDGGM8.5-3-30-1
and the Tru Trac True-Trac limited slip for GM 8.5" & 8.6" rear with 30 spline axles - TT 913A481
I found the overhaul kit and the ring and pinion set.
The shop has looked at it and they say to repair it they recommend getting a new housing. They have not removed the axles yet but say I should replace everything.
What do you guys think? I can get the axles also but a new housing? Is that common?
This is my first go-round with a bad rear. I need help
