Are boutique oils worth it?

Found this video fascinating on how oils are blended and how they are certified.

I think at about the 18 minute mark he stated my feelings, I don't have a race car, and I typically don't drive like I'm in a race. And while I am a victim of advertising and like certain brands over others, as long as It meets the factory standards, it will work just fine, for me.
I just don't believe people should go 7k or 10k miles between changes. I feel 3k is a good time to change it and if life gets in the way, make sure it's done by 5k
