Looking on Ebay and i see a set of 9006 LED fog light bulbs for my 2005 Envoy SLT XL. has anyone ever swapped their stock bulbs for these? Is the fog light bulb for a 2005 Envoy a 9006 type? just wondering.

I believe they take an 881 bulb and not a 9006. My Envoy takes the 881's for the fogs and 9006's for the lows and 9005's for the highs. I though about LEDs for the fogs but I dont think the light output will be good enough.

Yeah, you won't get much useful light output from LED bulbs, but it will be good for looks. I plan to go with LED bulbs for my fogs down the road, when I get my projector headlights done.

so for practicality, dont bother LOL. was looking into a 9006 800K HID kit for the headlights, but the DRL's i heard were a issue. i could just manually shut them off everytime i start the truck i guess. just a idea i had.

I want a portable Sun. So for me its going to be HID.:2thumbsup:
I did that cap mod from the OS. It works well for me. If I remember right it was a 10micro farrad capicator. You install it at the bcm on the pink?? wire and to ground. I also installed a diode between the highs and lows at the BCM so when I hit the highs the lows stay on. If you do HIDs in all lights the warmup time can be a bit unnerving.

One thing i noticed on dark back roads by me the light def doesnt go far with my stock bulbs. Had 8000K kits with my 99 Jeep grand cherokee and i can see through the fabric of time it was that bright LOL

I did change mine to LED's and it looks cool but useless for light. I even tried LED's for headlights just to see output, absolutely useless, but again looks cool.

Can you get away with just turning the DRL's off with the headlight switch each time you start up OR will putting the HID kit in mess with that. Dont want to mess anything up

For now, any LED/SMD bulb will be just cosmetic. There is currently a 25 watt version which is getting close but still not enough lumen output. A new light called COB maybe the ticket later on this years as the technology developes. If you have HIDs in your low beams then maybe you might try the high beam since you really won't use the high beams.
