This feature works on my 1999 Jimmy but not on my 2003 Envoy 5.3

I have a slight but noticeable misfire above 4,000 RPM that shows itself in 3rd gear. I suspect it might be a bad coil but without knowing which cylinder I'm not about to start throwing parts at it.

Any thoughts?

Works fine on my 2006 4.2L. Maybe it's a header address issue with the 5.3L pcms?

I'm assuming you're getting no response for the misfire PIDs (vs. zeros)?

On my Jimmy I could pull a plug wire and watch the count for that cylinder go up.

On my Envoy I unplug a coil and nothing!

I haven't used it on anything else so I don't know how many models/years work.

I use it on my 2005 V8. Works fine. When I go through a car wash with the underbody wash, I can feel the idle change. I plug the adapter in and go to my misfire page and see which ones are acting up - usually 1 and 2. When it was misfiring before I did the plug/wire change, it was #4 that had a high count all the time.

All I remember doing is enabling the extra PIDs.

Checked again today and it's working. Must have needed a fresh connection.
