After 6 weeks of wrangling with viruses, bad patches and a shitty OS I finally got my laptop running again.

I swear to (whatever deity you worship) that if I have to install this OS one more time this year, Imma gonna snap. :hissyfit:

All caught up already! :rotfl: I'm better protected this time, and it seems my backup image will actually be functional this time, which will seriously limit my next bout of down time. :wootwoot:

The only place on the planet where I enjoy the abuse.

I love reading about drama up in Canada. I'm so far from it. :raspberry:

Every time I think about Canada, I can't help but chuckle - the place that brought the world Rob Laidlaw and Vertical Scope. Destroyers of trailvoy and hundreds of other internet forums. :wootwoot:

Damn, Stef is back already? I'll have to whip up a better virus next time.

Hey now!!! That's not fair nor necessary. You can't lump us all into the same pile of poop as those two. We're not all like that! :poke:

Didn't I just hear that Windows 8 is coming out????? :rotfl:

Think about putting Ubuntu on a USB stick. makes a handy backup, and ready to go. also makes it possible to save a few files not backed up in case your usual OS (Operating System, not the other OS) screws up.

NOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo. :rotfl: My laptop will never run that. Hell, it has a hard time with Vista. Shit. I miss the old DOS days.

My brother mentioned that Ubuntu thing too... Dunno. I may be to old to learn that kind of stuff now. Or mebbe I just don't want to. LOL. I made images with Acronis and the whole program seems to work better than that Paragon shit that cost me two weeks of hell and lost data. :hissyfit:

So hopefully, barring any unforseen poo poo, I should be covered now.

FWIW my brother is a network admin for a large Calgary museum, and runs a business on the side doing remote data backups for small business clients - he swears the hardware resource load of running Win7 is far less than that of Vista - maybe Win8 even improves upon that.

If you ever run into a snafu again, the guys I ALWAYS turn to when I have a complicated issue (my issues always are, I can solve most things myself) is MajorGeeks - group of very highly knowledgeable and helpful people much like many of those on this forum. Here's a link to my last thread with them, you will find some useful info in there about creating various bootable O/S's on both USB and CD:

Self Replicating "Application Data" Folder on External Drive?!? - MajorGeeks Support Forums

Wow. Imma gonna love trolling that forum!! Thank you! That'll help me help my clients!

I'm grabbing Puppy and Ubuntu for shits and giggles. Imma make a multi-boot USB stick that includes Acronis True Image.

Ubuntu looks entertaining as a Winblows alternative... :undecided:

Glad I made my backups... It appears that I may end up breaking my OS yet again... :rotfl:
