I need a new serpentine belt, went to the parts store by my work, and the first thing they asked was, 130 or 150 amp alternator?

So, how can I tell? Should I just assume I have the 150 because I have the EXT with the rear air? (The only other option on the whole bloody truck that's electrically powered is the voice recorder.)

Thanks in advance for the help...

IIRC, I think all TV's have a stock 150amp alternator. With regards to the belt, your LWB model requires the shorter belt. The SWB models use the longer belt. I forget the length on each though. A quick AAP search shows 915 for the SWB and 905 for the LWB. (I'm assuming CM's)

:iagree: It has nothing to do with the alt.

The LWB has a smaller PS pump pulley. That's why the belt is shorter.

The parts store software has been asking the wrong question since Day 1 of the platform. All alternators are 150A, but GM probably changed their mind at launch time and deleted a planned 130A option. As posted, the correct question is LWB versus SWB, and it helps if you know the vehicle better than the parts store clerks.
