I have my eye on a possible spare GMT 360 (4.2L), and I'm curious if the 06+ uses a different alternator than the 02.

I remember the 06+ has a different PCM control for the alternator, but is the wire connector the same?

Reason is, I have a spare alternator for my 02 and may need it for a 06+ engine. The spare alternator has two terminals in the 4-pin connector,

Yes, it's different. 06+ uses a SARVC and likely wouldn't work even if you changed the connector.

If the internals were the same, they would have kept the same connector.

Thanks.

That's what I was thinking at first, but wasn't sure when I looked at the connector for HO alternator I was going to install in the 02.

The connector is the larger one, but only has 2 terminals...threw me off.
