Air Bag Removal

I am thinking about removing my passenger side airbag. The reason behind this is that I always have a laptop mount in place, and regularly have the laptop on it. I am concerned that this will cause an issue because the airbag would hit the mount first and potentially push it into the passengers chest.

The actual removal is not all that difficult, I am curious as to what I should expect after it is removed. Dash lights? will the system still function? Anything else I should be concerned about?

should be just an airbag light that will stay on after you remove it

This, although some systems disable other parts of the airbag system when something is missing (my camaro will disable the passenger airbag if the driver airbag isn't connected for example, which seems odd to me). If you can find out the resistance of the old airbag (without setting it off  ) and wire in a resistor in the airbag plug to simulate the airbag being there, then you won't have any lights or other disabled components.
