I decided to go this route: Range ACM Disabling Device - Best Way to Disable Active Fuel Managment on GM & Chevy V8 Motors - Silverado, Sierra, Suburban & Yukon
because it's a plug n play and has great reviews. A retune would have been cheaper but, wouldn't be instantly reversible. I'll report on it when I get it and have it installed awhile.
I might add that my main concern is to try and head off oil consumption issues down the road. To date my truck has had no problems and the AFM has been perfect and undetectable in operation but, at 75K it may be a time bomb, I think a new valve cover will be next :undecided: .....Mike.

Please keep this updated. I plan on getting the product as well. Rave reviews on another forum, and also a discount code that may still be active.

Today was my first drive with the device installed. It doesn't feel any different than it did before and I guess that's a good thing.... Because the AFM is not detectable (at least on my truck) I wondered how I would know if the Ranger device worked or if I even had functioning AFM in the first place :undecided:
The DIC continues to show an average 17.3 mpg so I will keep an eye on that as I pile on more miles.
I bought mine from AutoAnything, none of the coupon codes worked so I explained that (on line) to their customer service and they knocked off $15 and also free s&h.
ps re: the reviews, LOL at how many people liked the box that it came in.

For that much money, why not just get your ECM tuned and AFM deactivated that way?

Plug n play, instantly reversible, no down time, resalable ,able to evaluate operation w/o AFM and best of all "neat blue glow"

ps doesn't apply to me but, for some warranty issues are a concern.

It's been about a week now and I can't say that I've noticed any change with the Ranger device in place and no AFM. My average mileage has dropped from 17.3 to 17.2 which it might have done anyway. My goal is to possibly eliminate excessive oil consumption down the road so the jury will be out for a while on that benefit if there is one. :undecided:
