AC Makes Noise on Start-Up

Did a engine rebuild on 2006 trailblazer 4.2.Had to get AC recharged now when I turn ac on it makes a growling/rumbling noise and the ac lines shake for a few seconds and then it operates fine. The garage that did the work said it is nothing they did any ideas on what couild be causing this.I mentioned air but the garage said not possible.

I am going to guess they may have put too much r134 a into the system. go back to the place that charged it and tell them what is happening.

why did you have to have it charged? did the engine rebuild folks have to break into the coolant lines? or just leak/seepage over time?

Yep, sounds like slugging the compressor. Too much refrigerant. Trying to compress a liquid is impossible. Can cause compressor damage.
