I see where some have replaced their AC evap core by going in through the glove box door and cutting open the HVAC unit. But that was for newer models that did not have that heavy cross bar right behind the glove box which clearly blocks removal of the evap core.
My truck is a 1995 K3500. If I cut through this bar, what problems am I creating? Has anyone done this hack? And if so, how did you repair that cross bar? Obviously, I'm trying to avoid removal of the entire dash and all components.
