About the bulge in front of the body frame

Good evening.
Please let me know if anyone remembers the thread I saw on the Trail Blazer forum previously.
It could be an SS or another forum.
I searched for both but couldn't find it.

It was a strange topic so I saved the thread but couldn't find it.

It's the back of the rack and pinion.

This article stated why this bulge existed.
Some people wrote about the reasons for the big hole.

It could be another thread, but some people flattened this bulge by hammering it with a hammer, and others were trying to cut it off. (Maybe he was the one who used a grinder to remove it)

Does anyone remember these topics?
When I search, how do I express this bulging part in English?

thank you.

In general terms.. That area acts as a "Gusset" or a Structural Support Member that acts to "Strengthen by Triangulation". The concept here is that unlike a Square or a Rectangle in building ANYTHING... those two "Box" structures are subject to immediate collapse failures from Three Dimensions (X,Y,Z) ...into a flattened useless Two Dimensional Shape (X,Y)... Like a Cardboard Box!

In contrast...a Triangular Shaped Unit is held in both Tension AND Compression in All Three Vectors... rigidly Pulling AND Pushing ...simultaneously and is therefore almost fool-proof as a reliable support if designed in the correct shape and made of the correct materials that are used for any given structural demand.

The rounded (perimeter "Bulge") edged hole in the center is done for both Weight Saving and to prevent the metal from having Cracks Propagate and allow any Failure by having a Round -Like Radius around the hole with no weak spots.

In essence... those TB - Envoy Corner "Truss" units add strength and rigidity to an area that is subject to the "twisting moment" that can cause the auto frame to Flex and Bend during left and right hand turns when the frame is so seriously stressed and can become bent out of shape whenever changes in Torque and RPM are imparted by the Engine via the Motor and Transmission Mounts... and for those two spots...the Suspension Components, too... (Think of... Angular Momentum... as The Enemy) held only partly in check by Anti-Sway Bars.

If the GM Engineers did not think it was a necessity to have them ( L & R) in those particular locations... they would NOT have used *Gussets* in "The Build..."

thank you.
It's probably more specialized than the threads I've seen, but I managed to understand.

Either way, it may be better not to imitate "hitting and crushing this bulge with a hammer" or "shaving with a grinder."
To absorb three-dimensional impacts.

thank you.

If this information has captured your imagination and you would like to delve further into the subject of Engineering and Materials Science... This Little Book will definitely appeal to you. It is at once, wildly entertaining, very surprising at times and ...extremely informative for those who realize that the Hows and Whys of the Ways in which *Things* can be Made... and then Fail... is a piece of knowledge that the "Mechanically Minded" will very much appreciate having:

thank you.
I found the Japanese version of this book.
However, it is currently out of stock and no reprinting has been decided.
I'm going to look for a used book.
