I actually had a 2006 9-7x before my 2005. On May 28th I was involved in a collision with a 2014 Chevy Cruze, It was during a freak rainstorm. I wasn't hurt but the other guy was a little bit bruised up. I wasn't wearing my belt (I know, naughty naughty). The Saab landed atop the Cruze after completing a 180 degree spin. It was considered a not-at-fault accident. due to the weather. My town's lovely fire department didn't let me disconnect my own battery cables, and I lost about $80 worth of CDs in the changer. I was shocked with how well it stood up. The headlight housing was totally obliterated but everything else was pretty identifiable. The Cruze had severe front damage, the front wheel of the Saab landed on top of the Cruze, and crushed the a-pillar.
Two weeks later, after I was issued my insurance check, I picked up a 2005 9-7x as a replacement. I had paid a little more than I wanted to but it's actually in better shape than the 06 was.
