I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer lt. it has 109k on it. I have now notice more than once the my car will randomly engage the 4wd all on its own. ive noticed that it will do it while I am making a slow sharp turn. I have also happened to be sitting in the car and watched it jump from 2wd to the "auto" position then to the 4wd position and then back to 2wd all on it own with me touching a single thing. i have not run the "4wd function test" i guess you would call it to make sure that the actuator and encoder motor are functioning properly. i was just wondering if anyone else has heard or had this problem and could point in me the right direction. i will do the test some point this weekend and will update the thread afterwards. thanks again for any input.

Classic symptoms of a switch that doesn't get used a lot and the contacts get oxidized. Try turning it CCW and CW 50-100 times and see if it gets better.

Yup, what Roadie and Captain said.
At the worst it could be the TCCM, neither one is a difficult problem to have.
