Depending on the years, yes. 07 there was an internal change. V8 to V8, no problem. V8 to I6 you have to swap the bellhousing and torque converter.

I know for sure that the 4wd and AWD tailshaft and mating pattern are the same within the same platform however not sure if it is the same with the Tahoe's larger transfer case. The mating pattern may be different. The 01 internally should be the same as the 04.

Okay I swapped out the transmissions and now I'm not getting any gears

Only going on the information provided. Did you check the fluid level with the engine idling?

Did you swap the torque converters? Prob would still drive but the converter in the GMT360 is more specific if you have the I6....believe a higher stall.
