hello i have the front disassembled on my wifes 2006 4 x 4 trailblazer. got one bad half shaft axle that will be replaced. rebuilding axle disconnect unit, grease was all hard and yuk. how about that intermediate shaft is this something that i should pull and put a new bearing on it? is this tough to do? let me know guys, i am right in there now, but front case sounds nice and quite when i turn everything, so i was just wondering if that intermediate shaft causes problems or if that is not too big a deal.

let me know guys.
thanks very much.

hello all, i just found some diagrams on line and i answered my own question. looks like the bearings i need to be concerned with are in the disconnect assy and the case half on the drivers side. i found all the bearings and seals at gmpartsdirect for about $70 + shipping. and i should be good. thanks very much.

Thats right the shaft through the pan is only supported in the disconnect and the diff.

I have a spare one. It's a good laugh to find someone doing one and put that shaft in the pile of parts they have. Then stand back and watch as they wonder if they put it in or not.:rotfl: (yep I can be an ass)
