My new SAAB has a noisy rear end and doing a search to see if any are available within the forum.

Thanks for any help.

What year? 2005 had no speed sensors whereas 2006-2009 did.

If push comes to shove, you could use a G80 from any GMT360/370. GMT370 (EXT/XL) and 360's with the V8 would be preferable as they have the 8.6" ring gear rather than the weaker 8.0".

Ok, thanks for responding. It's a '09 with a V8. The truck has a 90 day warranty and the used car's repair shop says it's a pinion bearing. The probability of them getting the repair right, prompted to try and find another entire rear. Could anyone explain where to find the serial # for the present rear. Have a feeling that the factory may have stuck a 8.0 rg as it was the end of the production run, build on 12/08.

Possible but not probable. The smaller ring gear had difficulty surviving behind the 4.2L so it would self destruct much sooner behind the 5.3L.

Pinion bearings can fail, not often, but they do fail. Unless they were totally thrashed and took out the ring and pinion gears, it shouldn't be a difficult job.

Upon looking at the shape of the cover, it seems that it has a 8.0 inch ring gear. Still would like to locate the correct 8.6 ring diameter rear, and suppose the shorter drive shaft.

Thanks for any response.
