Now some of you have seen this through other forums that I'm on, but I'll give you guys who haven't the luxury of a toy my gf has acquired this past July. It is fully paid off, title in hand, and due to the time frame, currently resting in storage, covered up and winterized. Yes it is a manual transmission and no the gf does not know how to drive it. :wootwoot:

So basically it's almost like my own private toy!!! :raspberry:

But here are some pictures:

Funny seeing you here too!!!

I don't know if you saw on the Camaro forum, but some time in the spring, I want to get a multi-forum meet together between the Camaro guys and the NEC truck guys.

Thats quite a car. How did she 'acquire' it...it looks like it would cost twice the house it is in front of.

The house it is in front of is my parents house. She "acquired" from a rather large inheritence.

You bastard!!

Funny I was just watching Mecum Auctions and they were talking about this limited production Vette and how it would become an instant collectable...Mike.

When she told me she wanted to get a Vette, her first option was she wanted to get the grand sport with the 60th anniversary edition package, all because of the "blue interior was pretty". Then for whatever reason, she wanted the bigger engine so she changed her mind from the grand sport to the 427. Believe it or not, I TRIED to convince her knowing that she can't drive stick to get the grand sport, but she looked into it as the grand sports have been out for a while and the 427s are a once in a lifetime deal. So to get the 427 with the 60th anniversary edition, she wanted to get the ultimate collectors package.

So she did. She traded in a beat up 2007 Pontiac G6 GT hard top convertible and a mint condition 2007 Subaru legacy outback (also obtained in the inheritence).

She got $22K from the trades, plus the dealer discounted her $8K from the start, so out of pocket, she spent the same as she would have normally for the grand sport, $68K after taxes, title and doc fees.

Well, i'm far, far more practical than she is but as I get older, I start to shift my mindset to 'you only live once'. I think the hardest part about owning that car would be where to park it so fools don't ding it or kids don't run into it with their bikes in the garage. Of course here in MN it wouldn't see the light of day for a lot of the year either.
